What are you saying with your eyes?
This time I want to focus on dark circles. Some people are unfortunately more prone to dark circles than others. However, there are things you can do to reduce the risk and improve the appearance:
Enough sleep - yes, carrying on from last month, getting enough sleep is definitely a big plus to reducing circles. I know it's not always easy with busy lives, and habitual poor sleep, but try to allocate enough time to rest - at least 7-8 hours.
Eye cream - applying an eye cream every night will also help you. This combats dark circles and gets to work on that delicate area while you sleep - rejuvenating the skin, and encouraging collagen and elastin regeneration. And I just might have the ideal solution for you below...
Cooling - try something that is quite old fashioned but surprising good - slices of cucumber over your eyes. Lie back on the sofa and take 5-10 minutes with a slice of cucumber on each eye, or cotton wool pads soaked in witch hazel. Your eyes should feel soothed and cool. Ideal if your eyes feel overworked from too much screen time, hot or scratchy.
Eye make up remover - use products specifically designed to remove eye make up. I always suggest the waterproof mascara versions which are quite hard working, but still gentle. Experiment to find the right product for you. Perennial favourites are Lancome Bi-Facil, MAC Gently Off Eye and Lip Make-up Remover and Nivea Double Effect Eye Make-up Remover.
Under eye concealer - first of all, be sure to choose a product that is ideally suited to that very delicate under eye area. Some concealers are too heavy for this area, making them sit in any lines. They may also be too greasy, which means eye make up can become smudged. YSL Touche Eclat remains a solid choice, but there are some new players to the market... Secret Camouflage Concealer from Laura Mercier, Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination Concealer and Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector, but have a play and see what works best for you.
Application - whether removing make up, applying eye cream, or hiding circles, remember to be super gentle with your eyes. No dragging cotton wool backwards and forwards to remove make up - if you have to scrub at it, you haven't got the right product. Use your ring finger and dot cream and concealer. Use a soft make up brush designed for concealer. And don't use too much product, that area just can't take it.
Remember to look after your eyes and rest them when you can. They will thank you for it...
