Exfoliation is a Mantra

Honestly, exfoliation is my mantra - it's what I tell all my ladies to do. And, I'm hugely in favour of it becoming your mantra too! Exfoliation is essential for our skin renewal.

There are different types of exfoliant - one to suit everyone. It is important to know and understand your skin type, so you know how gentle it needs to be, or if you need a more abrasive approach.

If you have a sensitive skin, you will need a gentle exfoliator - try a chemical exfoliator, such as lactic acid, or just a wash cloth.

For oiler skins you will be pleased to know some exfoliators can get inside your pores, unclogging them from within, so bye bye breakouts!

I am often asked how frequently to exfoliate. As a general rule, once a week is a good habit to adopt.

Exfoliating makes you look younger overnight - yes, I knew you would love that one! But now that you have removed the dead skin cells, your skincare products can penetrate the skin faster and more effectively.

Check out these homemade options...

For the body only: Make a paste of brown sugar and olive oil. Apply before your shower, rinse off and dry. You will find the olive oil also moisturises your skin.

For the face: Massage half a teaspoon of coconut oil into your skin. Take your time and enjoy the feeling of your fingers working over your skin. Then apply a warm, wet face cloth/flannel (the towelling type) onto your face, and gently remove the oil.
