Bring in some colour...
Trying to avoid the usual weird and wonderful from the catwalks, this time I am sharing some of the more wearable trends for SS20:
Colourful eyes - for the young and trendy there is neon eyeshadow and eyeliners. For those of us who are a little more reserved, try coloured mascara, a coloured eyeliner as a nice change from black or brown, and experiment with eyeshadows too - plums, blues are very big, maybe a tiny pop of pink in the middle of the eyelid.
Classics - great news - the iconic red lip is very on trend this year, as is the classic sharp winged eyeliner - thank goodness we don't have to throw everything out!
Softly illuminated complexions - try highlighters on the cheek bones, a light bronzer, strobe cream like the one from Mac - strobes, and complexion boosters. More sheer foundation is a nice option too, especially once the weather starts to get warmer.
Sustainable beauty - considering the carbon footprint of the beauty industry, I think this is going to be a tough one to crack, but there is an increasing demand for more sustainability. Products not tested on animals, and the reduction of plastic packaging are very on trend.
Nail shapes - anything goes still remains the theme - from soft almond shapes to very sharply pointed and lethal stiletto, although I'm not convinced how practical the latter is! Equally, short or long is in vogue.
Rich browns - from milk chocolate and caramel to cocoa and cinnamon, and then warmer more spicy colours like cayenne and paprika.
Pastels - lemon, white, sherbet orange - I think these will work really nicely with tanned skin, so may be worth holding out to the Summer for trying these out.
Light nudes - cream, pale taupe and biscuit - perennial favourites.
Classic red - always a winner.
Brights - bold blues, neon pinks - again looks great with Summer skin
So, go on, step out of your comfort zone and try something new. You never know - it could become your new favourite...
