A little oasis in your desert...

It’s important to keep your mind and body hydrated all year round. Check out my tips to make it easier:

  • Water - yep - I know I said last time, but really this cannot be said enough! Please make sure you drink enough - in the heat, you should be drinking at least 3 litres per day. I know it's a tall order, but your brain and your body will thank you.

  • Food - fruit with a high water content - melon, blueberries, peaches - and vegetables - cucumber, tomato, courgette, lettuce - are a good way to get more water into your body. They are also low calorie - always a bonus!

  • Sponge - try using an exfoliating sponge in the shower or bath every day to battle dry skin, and give a good start for moisturising or tanning. This is one I often recommend: Boots Massage sponge - this one is in charcoal, but they do have other colours.

  • Shower gel/soap - make sure you choose a shower gel or soap with added moisturisers. Soap can be very drying, so choose wisely.

  • Body lotion/moisturiser - again, choose something that locks in moisture. It works well if you apply it while your skin is still slightly damp. Don't believe the label if it says 48 hour moisture - you still need to do it every day! And, if you don't like the sticky feeling, choose something that is lightweight, or absorbs quickly. Do this before anything else, then you can be doing other things in your morning routine while it soaks in, before you get dressed.

  • Morning and night routine - if your skin is particularly dry, consider using a richer body cream at night, so it has chance to work while you are asleep. Do create a routine, find the time to make it a habit, and your skin will love you for it!
